About TMS shortcode
What is a TMS shortcode?(Also known as TMS code)
A TMS shortcode is a short keyword which can associate a word and a numeric code or be only numeric: e.g. "KFC 1010" or "123 45". The TMS code replaces a long URL web address (or different URL(s) if the code is linked to different offers managed by rules). The TMS codes enable consumers to access quickly, easily, and directly to a personalized version of your offer optimized for consumers' devices. In other words, SMS was built to enable text messaging and TMS is a new standard built for the new generation of phones to enable URL messaging.
How does a TMS code works?TMS code is a Telco-free solution that transforms your promotional material into a real time interactive touch point to increase the level of your engagement with consumers. Our TMS code is a simple user-friendly short code (numeric or branded) that is associated to your offer.
When an interested consumer wants to access to an offer or content from a brand, he can directly enter the TMS code into the new search engine of shortcodes (TMS Search) on his mobile. For instance, the consumer is invited to enter the code "123 65" into TMS search following this kind of call to action:
"Get now 30% off with the TMS code: 123 65
Visit TMSsearch.com on your mobile and enter the code."
To access on TMS search, a consumer can use his mobile web browser (going to TMSsearch.com) or the TMS app. When a consumer uses a TMS code, he can instantly access to a personalized version of your offer (site) as TMS analyzes a large number of criteria (handset, date, time, and location) and automatically optimized the content to these parameters before delivering the access.
What is the difference between SMS shortcodes and TMS shortcodes? In the consumer mass market's perspective, TMS delivers a positive evolution of 1-step process from the used to be 3-step process via SMS shortcode. TMS shortcodes do not require the consumers to pay an SMS charge as SMS shortcode marketing does. And lastly, TMS shortcodes deliver instantly much more interactive and personalized interaction with a brand.
What can I do with a TMS code? You can use it in your promotional material to enable consumers to access a personalized version of your offer in real time.
Example of call-to-action which can be added on your promotional material:
Buy now a 20$ discount coupon for 40$ worth of lunch food with the TMS code: 123 34
Visit TMSsearch.com on your mobile to enter the code above.
Why do I use TMS code instead of URL in my promotion? The goal of using a TMS shortcode in a campaign is to give access to a promotional site (with an offer) built for a branded campaign.
Using a TMS shortcode on your campaign provides various advantages:
- It is shorter and easier to remember (e.g. 23 345) than a promotional URL address (m.mystore.com/country/promotion/ promotion ID page')
- Using TMS, you can deliver a personalized access to your mobile site
- TMS Shortcodes can link different URLs to the same shortcode to deliver different offers (sites) to diverse consumers. When a user enters a shortcode in the TMS search engine, we are able to access some strategic criteria prior to the delivery of a personalized offer, and at same time, collect some insightful usage data.
- Your campaign can benefit from the "TMS search experience" of the users. In other words, you benefit from the fact that consumers are familiar with shortcodes and search engine, and have already used (and bookmarked) 'TMS search from precedent campaigns or have the TMS app installed on their phones.
You can engage to all consumers with internet-enabled mobile phones (or other internet-connected devices like tablets). In 2011, more than 40% of the mobile phones are internet-enabled (and it's expected to increase depending on the demography and geography); and almost all the mobile phones in the next 5 years will be connected to the Internet. Consumers with internet-enabled mobile phones are more likely to be of interest to the majority of advertisers as they are generally younger, more affluent, and city dwellers. This audience also expects more than an exchange of texts in their relationship with favorite brands.
Can I create a TMS code with my brand name?Yes. There are 3 different options to choose from in creating a TMS shortcode: 1) create a random numeric code, 2) create your own numeric code (e.g. your store or company phone number), or 3) create a vanity (branded) code.
How much does it cost to create a TMS code?A numeric TMS shortcode is included in your campaign cost. If you would like to register a vanity (branded) 'root' for your shortcodes (i.e. NIKE), it costs US$ 99 per country for one year and it can be used for multiple shortcode campaigns by adding a new numeric codes after the branded root at no extra cost (i.e. NIKE 34 32)
